About the Client
Established in 2006, Cambodia Vision gives the gift of sight to the poor in rural Cambodia who suffer from debilitating eye disease. These people live well below the poverty line - many living on $1 AUD a day. So without help, they would have no means to pay for their eye tests or to have their vision corrected.
Last year, the foundation sent over 75 volunteers, including 50 doctors and surgeons. Together, they helped to restore over 3500 sights.
Cambodia Vision has typically used completely manual paper forms throughout their operation process. The doctors, surgeons, and volunteers have to document the results and progress of all patients on paper forms.
This is extremely time-consuming and error-prone.
After tens of thousands of patients, and under tropical and rural conditions, there are understandably a lot of human-errors within the information being documented. This also does not give the charity a good overview of their operational status, causing confusion and miscommunication.
The not-for-profit organisation engaged us after hearing about our charity initiative to develop an automated Health Data Management Platform. This platform involves everything from patient registration and details, Optometrist results, medical and surgical patient data, postoperative status, and live Big Data reporting.
The Production Plan
Given our understanding in the Healthcare and Medical industry, our team spoke with the organisation and quickly understood their operational process. We were able to thoroughly translate the business requirements and vision into a robust technology platform.
Utilising some of the newest technology stacks, we were able to develop a high-performance, responsive platform that is User-Friendly for both patients and doctors.
- Angular 4
- Node JS
- Nginx proxy server
The operation was a huge success, having doubled the number of patients with their capacity compared to the previous year. The platform provided real-time visibility for the management, which meant that they were able to better allocate staff and greatly reduce manual processes.
At the end of the trip, the platform provided the organisation with immediate insights and reporting, whereas, traditionally, volunteers would have spent many hours calculating the data collected.
